Discover Old Trail Town in Cody, WY

The original townsite of Cody, WY, was laid out at Old Trail Town in 1895 by Buffalo Bill Cody himself. Today, Old Trail Town celebrates the heritage of the Western frontier through a unique collection of centuries-old structures. The site is home to 26 buildings, one hundred horse-drawn vehicles, authentic Indian artifacts, and other Western relics. Originally located in rural areas of Wyoming and Montana, these historic buildings were reassembled and brought back to life at Old Trail Town. When you visit, you’ll see the home of the first mayor of Cody, the historic Rivers Saloon, and so much more. You can even tour the original cabins used by infamous outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!  

Old Trail Town Hours of Operation and Admission

Old Trail Town in Cody, WY, is open from mid-May through late September from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The site also re-opens for one day in December for the annual Old Trail Town Christmas Open House. Tickets are for self-guided tours only. Admission is just $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for kids between 6 and 12, and free for children who are 5 years old and younger. If you have a large group, make sure to give them a call at (307) 587-5302 as you may be eligible for a discount. After your tour, make sure to stop by the Cody Dug Up Gun Museum. It’s just a short drive away from Old Trail Town and features an impressive collection of vintage firearms from previous eras.
