History of the Cody, Wyoming, Rodeo

This year marks the 99th Annual Cody Stampede, the world class rodeo that is the centerpiece of the 2018 summer performance schedule. Anticipated annually from July 1 – 4, what could be more exciting than to be at this rodeo to celebrate with a performance and fireworks? It’s all there: the bucking bulls, the bullfighters, the Calf Scramble, the clowns! Tickets for the Cody Wyoming Nightly Rodeo (except during Stampede Week) are open-ended, open seating general admission. Although the performance goes on rain or shine with covered seating, you have the option of waiting for a clear night with the open-ended ticket. Handicapped parking and seating are available.

This rodeo started with Buffalo Bill and his Wild West Show performances in Cody. Several years after the famous cowboy died, members of the community established the rodeo celebration to honor Buffalo Bill and the Wild West lifestyle he represented. The PRCA Xtreme Bulls/Wrangler Bullfighters is another exciting example of that lifestyle not to be missed. With over $45,000 in cash prizes, 40 top bullfighters and bucking bulls compete on June 30 in a sure to be nail-biting, edge-of-the-seat competition.

Where to Stay in Cody
